Catholic Schools Inspection Report February 2024
OLA was judged as ‘Good’ in its first CSI (Catholic Schools Inspection) last month.
Key strengths:
- Catholic Life and Mission: “Students are proud of their school, deeply value the support of the staff and can articulate what makes the school special … all speak of kindness and of a genuine family atmosphere.”
- Religious Education: “Students enjoy their religious studies lessons, supported by very well qualified teachers, who are committed to ensuring the subject is one of the best performing in the school.”
- Prayer and Liturgy: “The school is palpably a community of prayer, responding to the rhythms of the liturgical year, embedded in communications with parents and valued by students.”
Focused Compliance and Educational Quality Inspection Report May 2023
There are 2 parts to the inspection, the RCI (Regulatory and Compliance Inspection) and the EQI (Educational Quality Inspection).
Inspections occur as part of a cycle and, in recent years, schools have received a ‘full’ inspection, RCI and EQI, approximately every 5-6 years, with an RCI only in the interim (approximately every 3 years).
Within the RCI, there is no grading and the standards by which the School is judged are either ‘met’ or ‘not met’. We are very pleased that the School met all of the standards and is fully compliant.
The EQI has 2 areas which are graded, and ‘pupils’ academic and other achievements’ and ‘pupils’ personal development’ were both judged as ‘good’. We are very pleased with this outcome.
Regulatory Compliance Inspection Report March 2019
OLA was last inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in March 2019 for Regulatory Compliance. Click the button below to read the full report.
ISI is the body approved by the Department for Education for the purpose of inspecting schools belonging to Independent Schools Council Associations and reporting on compliance with independent school regulations.
ISI judged OLA to be compliant in all areas and to have met all eight standards set. The nature of a Compliance Inspection means that the report is a relatively straightforward one, simply stating whether the standards have been met or not. However, this conceals what is a very thorough process, involving meetings with staff, pupils and governors and with parent, pupil and staff questionnaires playing an important part.
