McAuley Scholarship Programme

At Our Lady's Abingdon School, we believe in helping every pupil realise their full potential. Our motto, ‘Whatever you do, do it well,’ guides our Scholarship Programme, which covers Academia, Art, Drama, Music, and Sport. This personalised approach nurtures each pupil’s unique gifts, helping them succeed both academically and personally.

We recognise and support pupils who excel in their studies and other areas of school life, providing personal mentors to ensure they make the most of the opportunities available.

Our scholarships celebrate scholarly excellence by nurturing a blend of ability, potential, and achievement across academic and extracurricular activities, giving every awardee the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Academic Scholars engage in a personalised enrichment program that aligns with their specific scholarly interests. This bespoke pathway is designed to cultivate an impressive academic portfolio that supports successful applications to competitive universities.

Creative Art Scholars convene regularly to engage in collaborative, technique-focused workshops led by experienced artists and craftspeople. Through these sessions, students explore new artistic avenues, enhancing their skills and expanding artistic horizons. Additional discussions on curation and exhibition management aim to prepare scholars for the annual Art Scholars' exhibition and prepare their portfolios for further education.

Drama Scholars receive mentoring to guide the development of independent projects. Annual theatre trips designed for drama scholars help inspire creative insights and challenge conventional theatre practices. These scholars are assigned key roles in the annual school play, supported by the drama department, taking on roles such as performer, director, or playwright.

Music Scholars benefit from close mentorship tailored to their specific musical interests. With a rich concert program that offers  performance opportunities, music scholars can refine and showcase their talent frequently.

Sports Scholars follow an individualised strength and conditioning program overseen by the head of athletic development. This sport-specific program includes regular wellbeing monitoring and support from a dedicated mentor who helps balance academic and athletic commitments.  Practical and theoretical training sessions, along with opportunities for one-on-one skill development dependent and scholar only use of the school fitness suite (From Sept 2025).

In exchange, we expect scholars to actively contribute to both the academic and extracurricular facets of school life.
