Representing OLA in the Historical Association Great Debate!
We are incredibly proud of Meli, who took part in the Historical Association Great Debate on Thursday, 30th January, representing Our Lady's Abingdon School. Competing in a virtual heat against students from across the UK, Meli delivered a compelling five-minute speech on the topic: "How can your local history tell a global story?"
Drawing on her family connections to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Meli highlighted the Srebrenica Massacre, passionately arguing that this horrific genocide of over 8,000 Bosniak men and boys deserves greater recognition as a significant global story. Her presentation was marked by outstanding research and heartfelt delivery.
Although Meli did not win the heat, we commend her dedication and the impressive effort she put into her presentation. We are proud to have her represent our school and share such an important story with a wider audience.
Congratulations, Meli, on your remarkable achievement!
